Bronze sculpture - Toronto, Ontario
This larger than life sized bronze sculpture of Pope John Paul II, was created to commemorate the pontiff’s visit to Canada. Created first in clay from sketches made by Alex, the sculpture was then cast in bronze in a foundry in Florence, Italy and then flown to Toronto. The statue stands in a commemorative plaza at Roncesvalles and Fern Avenue in Toronto. It forms a centerpiece of the plaza also designed by von Svoboda, in front of St. Stanislaus.
